Frosty Morning at Colby.

Yesterday morning was a beautiful frosty start to the day, so camera in hand, off I went for a walk around Colby Lodge.
This superb property is owned by the National Trust. The impressive Georgian house is let privately, however, apart from the gardens around the main house, the rest are open to the public. There is a beautiful low lying meadow with a stream, this is all flanked by rising woodland areas to each side.
In addition there is a walled garden with a Gazebo and rill, not forgetting the outbuildings which have been turned into a Café and gallery.
PLEASE if you are ever in Pembrokeshire you must find time to visit, you won't be disappointed.
Right, that's the advert over with!
During the Spring and Summer months, Colby can be quite busy, but this morning I was completely alone, it was perfect.
The frost crunched under foot as I walked across the meadow, with just the sound of the streams waterfalls in the background. The last bits of the earlier mist still hung over the house and smoke rose from the cottage chimney on the hill behind.
I took several photographs, from wide shots of the house in the meadow to more detailed photographs of frozen leaves and fallen trees.
I must say that I had a most enjoyable time and I do hope that you like some of the images that I've posted here.

I really do love Colby. Every time you visit you see something different.
I have an interesting affinity with the house as well, both professionally and on a personal level...but that's for another day.

Time to eat humble pie!

Well what can I say other than, Oh how wrong was I !!
Back in June 2013 I posted a blog saying how I thought it was a big mistake retaining the façade of the old cinema as part of the redevelopment on the old gatehouse site.
Well I was wrong, very wrong.
Take a look at these photographs that I have taken today. It looks absolutely fab. It makes such a contrast with the modern frontage of the Premier Inn next door. I love the way they have retained the arches and created impressive glazed entrances.
All in all a job well done.

It will be interesting to see what goes into the new commercial units.
Current rumours include, Marstons, Morrisons, M&S food and of course Wetherspoons.
Watch this space.

Time Goes By So Quickly!!

For the last few months I've been telling myself that I really must get around to updating my blog. Well those few months have turned into just over a year!!

Time really does go by so quickly.....but what an incredibly busy year it has been.

I have had a wonderful time both from a photography point of view and personally during 2014.

The main change personally is that we have moved house. We were lucky enough to buy the bungalow in Kilgetty that I mentioned in my last post and I can't believe that we are about to spend our 2nd Xmas there. As hoped it has given us better living space and the superb conservatory is not only great to sit in but has, as I hoped, doubled up as a studio.

From a business perspective, 2014 has undoubtedly been  my busiest year by far. I've photographed more lovely weddings and bonnie babies than ever before as well as families, horses, caravans, houses, cars - well you name it and I feel like I have probably photographed it!!

So a huge THANK YOU to everyone that has used my services during 2014, I reall do appreciate your business and also the very kind comments left on my Facebook page - Steve Duckworth Photography.

As you can see from earlier posts I do try and post a short profile of each wedding/event that I am lucky enough to photograph, however as I am so far behind with these it would make tedious reading if I detailed everything from this year. So, if I may, I would like to include a few of my personal favourite images from this year but please remember that there is an album for each of the weddings on my Facebook page, so please do swing by and have a look.

Before leaving you to browse, may I just take a moment to personally thank the following people for helping my 2014 be such a success.

These are a few photographs from a few of these special days, each and everyone was an absolute pleasure to photograph.

Lloyd & Neisha

A really lovely young couple who I was so pleased to photograph the wedding for at The Longhouse in Freshwater East a few weeks ago. Obviously so much in Love, hopefully I've captured some lovely moments between the two of them.
The venue was great but being so close to the beach made it a super setting for phoptgraphs in the dunes overlooking the bay.
Everybody seemed to have such a happy time and Lloyd and his best man were certainly out to enjoy the day.
Neish was a bit nervous to say the least, but as the afternoon progressed she did relax a lot more and was obviously enjoying her special day by the end of our time with them.
Thanks again to you both and good luck and best wishes from David and me. X
These are a few of my personal favourites from their lovely day
